Thank you everyone for tuning in to a great season of Discodelicos sessions! If you haven't done so, please make sure to subscribe for a third season, which is coming! For the finale of our second season here at Discodelicos, we are pleased to present Maku Yeika, hailing from central Mexico, as he jumps on the 1s and 2s. Maku's passion for collecting music began in 2002. The passion he felt for collecting music led him to dig for "tortillas negras" (black tortillas, as he calls them) at popular market places, antique stores, and defunct radio stations all throughout Mexico and South America. In 2017, he launched his own reissue label, Desierto Records, reissuing long lost Mexican funk recordings, which has most recently led to a reissue of Los Cheyenes (pick it up if you haven't done so!). In this 39 minute set, Maku delivers some hard hitting funky Latin sounds. We hope you enjoy! = = = Director's note: "It may not matter to some of you folk, but... I do want to apologize for the lack of angles from my roving camera. For some bizarre reason, the files for that specific third camera corrupted when I backed them up, and I didn't notice until it was too late. In the edit, I only had two angles to work with. Nonetheless, the music was infectious, and even though it's not exactly in the Discodelicos fashion, it's still an amazing episode." -Jesús Iñiguez = = = Recorded live at the Discodelic store in San Francisco, we aim to bring you eclectic mixes by DJs and record collectors from around the world! Whether you’re a record collector who is curious about obscure lost sounds or are just plainly a music lover, these “Discodelicos” sessions will all be testaments to the art of record digging and delicious sonic selections.
