You might be considering whether to try to run something in house or whether to get an outside organisation to run it for you. In this video I’m going to outline some of the main advantages and disadvantage of offering a wraparound service to help you make a more informed decision. What are the advantages of offering wrap around in your school? There are several benefits to the school: a) Parents are under more pressure than ever to work. If you can offer wrap around, they are more likely to send their children to your school and view the school as more attractive. This then has a positive effect on your school roll and sustainability moving forward. Plus affordable childcare is seen as a community benefit and a great way for you to demonstrate how you and your school are going the extra mile. b) Staff at your school can also take advantage of low cost childcare at their place of work rather than having to go elsewhere. Schools could even choose to subsidise staff childcare as a recruitment incentive c) Professionals likes Teaching Assistants have the opportunity if they so choose to increase their hours after their main role at the school has finished, especially as many have term time only contracts. In the venues we run, we employ school staff on part time contracts to assist in the childcare. They know how the school works, have high level of expertise plus it’s a chance for them to top up the income. So a win for the school, a win for the children and a win for staff! What are the advantages of using an outside organisation like Fiesta Sports You might be thinking, we could do this in house… and you probably could. I’m sure you have a great team. But what will you do when the booking system goes down and parents are ringing up not able to book on. Or when a team member calls in sick early in the morning and can’t attend the provision. So it might be better to get you staff to focus on what they’re good at and let an external company manage the bookings, the staffing and the delivery. We would always recommend choosing an Ofsted registered provider.
