GB Climbing Coach Rachel Carr passes on a few ways to keep your forearms healthy and injury free. Why is this important for climbing? Right now many of you will be doing a lot of intense finger training on a board at home, but your fingers may not be getting conditioned very well. These exercises are designed to get that conditioning into your forearms, keep them balanced and keep them from getting injured so you can keep up with your training. Rachel Carr is a GB Climbing coach for both the GB Climbing Development Squad and Team Official for the Senior British Climbing Team. She is also the Talent Program Coordinator for the elite squad at The Climbing Works, where she spends most of her days working on the long-term athlete development of the squad. She was a GB Junior athlete and attended several international competitions and achieved several nationals titles. Since switching to the outdoors, she’s now climbed two 8A boulders, in Fontainebleau and Rocklands. The GB Climbing Team is run by the British Mountaineering Council (BMC). The BMC is the national governing body for sport climbing in the UK and is recognised by the International Federation for Sport Climbing (IFSC). The BMC manages the GB Climbing Teams, Talent and Performance pathways, national and international competition events in the UK, and proudly promotes the future of our sport.
