After a golden hour stroll along the waterfront, I stopped to watch the seasonal ice rink, where the sight of skaters gliding under the winter sun made for a relaxing hour of people-watching. For lunch, I headed to the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse. After a sumptuous meal (and the mandatory coffee and dessert), I explored the complex’s boutiques and souvenir shops. With New Year celebrations in full swing, the entire area felt alive with festive energy. I wrapped up the day at the Japan Coast Guard Museum. Seeing the massive, salvaged North Korean spy vessel up close was fascinating, especially peering into the stern where smaller boats were hidden. The documentary video provided a gripping look at the 2001 interception. It was the perfect, meaningful end to a memorable day in the city.
