Welcome back to Week 2 of our Beginner BJJ Series at Samurai Spirit Jiu-Jitsu (North Vancouver, BC)! 🔥 In this lesson, we focus on eco games and positional rounds from Side Control, helping beginners develop timing, control, and problem-solving in a fun, safe way. ⸻ 🌟 Eco Game 1 — Side Control Limb Isolation Top Player Goal: ✔️ Isolate both partner’s arms using legs and hands ✔️ Maintain control without applying full pressure Bottom Player Goal: ✔️ Maintain strong frames ✔️ Keep posture and prevent control This game helps both players understand pressure, framing, and movement under resistance — essential skills for all BJJ levels. ⸻ 🌟 Eco Game 2 — Side Control to Mount Progression Top Player Goal: ✔️ Progress from side control to mount safely ✔️ Control the hips and upper body Bottom Player Goal: ✔️ Bring knees between themselves and the top player (reguard) ✔️ Maintain frames and defend position This game teaches flow, timing, and positional awareness while keeping training safe and beginner-friendly. 🔗 How This Fits Into the 16-Week Curriculum Week 2 builds on Week 1: • Guard retention • Closed guard control • Cross collar choke • Underhook leg staple pass These eco games give students hands-on practice of control and escapes from dominant positions in a safe, guided way. ⸻ 🏯 Train With Us in North Vancouver!
