FULL DESCRIPTION — WEEK 1 FINALE (WITH EMOJIS) Welcome to the final video of Week 1 in our Beginner BJJ Series at Samurai Spirit Jiu-Jitsu (North Vancouver, BC)! 🎉🔥 This session is all about eco games (ecological learning) — fun, fast-paced, realistic drills that help beginners learn timing, balance, and reactions without memorizing techniques. Today, we put EVERYTHING from Week 1 together: ⸻ 🌟 ECO GAMES INCLUDED IN THIS CLASS 🤝 1️⃣ Grip Fighting Game Learn to win inside control, break grips, and create angles. This prepares you for all future takedown setups. ⸻ 🤼♂️ 2️⃣ Body Lock & Single Leg Entry Game Perfect for sport and self-defense foundations: • No-grip single leg entries • Body lock reactions • Safe level changes • Balance and pressure control All the takedown elements from Week 1 combined into a natural, playful drill. ⸻ 🛡️ 3️⃣ Guard Retention Game Based on our earlier ground subject: • Keep your knees inside • Frame correctly • Use hip movement to recover guard This game teaches the real feeling of keeping someone out of your guard. ⸻ 🔒 4️⃣ Closed Guard Control Game Learn how to: • Keep your guard closed • Break posture safely • Control reactions • Build attacks from closed guard This game connects directly to your Week 1 submission: the cross collar choke. ⸻ 🎮 5️⃣ Bonus Game: Sweep-or-Stand If your guard opens: • Try to sweep • Or use technical stand-up to get back to standing This builds the link between ground and stand-up — exactly how real Jiu-Jitsu flows. ⸻ 🧠 Why Eco Games Matter (Especially for Beginners) Eco games help you develop: ✔️ Real timing ✔️ Better reactions ✔️ Pressure control ✔️ Balance & posture ✔️ Confidence under resistance ✔️ Smooth transitions — without stiffness This is how modern Jiu-Jitsu is taught at the highest level. ⸻ 🔗 Part of Our 16-Week Beginner Curriculum Week 1 covered: • Single leg variations (with & without grips) • Double leg (with & without grips) • Guard retention • Technical stand-up • Opening the closed guard • Cross collar choke • Eco games tying everything together From here, each week builds logically on top of the last. ⸻ 🏯 Train With Us in North Vancouver!
