Betty demonstrates how to make Basic Buttermilk Biscuits. These are perfect for making country ham biscuits, using Baked Country Ham from Betty's Kitchen. They are also great with butter and/or preserves. Basic Buttermilk Biscuits ½ cup butter 2 cups self-rising flour ¾ cup buttermilk cooking oil spray 2 tablespoons butter, melted Cut ½ cup butter into 2 cups self-rising flour with a pastry blender or food processor. Continue until the mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Add ¾ cup buttermilk. Stir gently until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead 3 or 4 times. Roll dough to ¾-inch thickness. Cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter. Place on a baking sheet that has been sprayed with cooking oil spray. Bake at 425 degrees (F) for 12 to 15 minutes. Brush with melted butter and transfer Basic Buttermilk Biscuits to a nice serving plate. Serve as desired. This recipe should make 12 biscuits.
