Over the next 9 weeks you will get to know her in her different forms. Durga in sanskrit means fort or a place that is difficult to overrun. Another name for Durga is “Durgatinashini” which translates as “the one who eliminates sufferings.” Durga is known to protect her devotees from evil and eliminate their adversities. Durga is seen riding a lion or a tiger which represent power, will and determination. The tiger reminds us that will, power, and determination is needed to overcome our egos. We will begin our hatha yoga class with half bow pose and breath of fire. We will practice tiger pose to connect with Durga´s tiger. Pigeon pose will open our hips in preparation for Goddess Victory Squat and Half Moon balancing pose. This class includes sun salutations. We have chair pose and dolphin pose to connect with our strength. Bow pose will open up your chest, dying warrior will help you to overcome your ego. We will round out our class with a mantra and mudra for Durga.
