A Solo Journey to Mount Buthak, Embarking on a solo hiking and camping trip can be both a thrilling and introspective adventure, and that's exactly what I experienced when I set out to conquer Mount Buthak via Panderman in Batu city, East Java, Indonesia. The journey promised to be challenging yet rewarding, with breathtaking views and the solitude of nature. I arrived at the registration post on 8:30 AM in the morning, greeted by the fresh mountain air and the distant chirping of birds. The trail ahead was inviting, winding through lush forests and offering glimpses of the magnificent landscape that awaited. With a quick check of my gear and a deep breath, I began my ascent. The initial part of the hike was relatively straightforward, with well-trodden paths leading me through dense vegetation. The weather was not very sunny, casting a cool, gray ambiance over the scenery. This mild weather was perfect for hiking, keeping me from overheating as I trekked upward. Around the halfway point, the weather began to change. A thick fog rolled in, reducing visibility and giving the forest an ethereal, almost mystical quality. Along with the fog came a light drizzle, the sound of raindrops softly hitting the leaves creating a soothing backdrop to my steps. After nearly seven hours of hiking, I finally emerged from the dense forest into the open expanse of the savannah. The fog had settled over the grassy plains, creating a surreal, almost dreamlike landscape. I could just make out the shape of a spring nearby, its water glistening faintly in the subdued light. It was around 4 PM when I decided to set up camp. I found a suitable spot and pitched my tarp tent, securing it firmly against the increasingly gusty winds. The drizzle had turned into a persistent mist, enveloping everything in a fine layer of moisture. I took a moment to rest, sitting under my tarp with a hot cup of coffee, savoring the quietude. A Windy Night, As the sun set behind a thick blanket of clouds, the temperature dropped, and the wind picked up. The once gentle breeze turned into a howling wind, shaking my tent and making the night feel even colder. The fog remained, thick and unyielding, cloaking the world in an impenetrable veil of gray. Despite the less-than-ideal weather, I felt a profound sense of contentment. The challenges of the day had been met with resilience, and now, in the heart of the savannah, I found solace in the simplicity of my surroundings. The wind outside was a lullaby, the fog a comforting shroud. The Morning After, I woke up early the next morning, the world still wrapped in mist. The wind had calmed, leaving a serene, almost otherworldly silence. Reflections, Solo hiking and camping on Mount Buthak had been an unforgettable experience. The weather had added an element of unpredictability, transforming the landscape and enhancing the sense of adventure. Despite the fog and wind, or perhaps because of them, I had found a deeper connection with nature and with myself. The journey was a reminder of the beauty and tranquility that can be found in solitude, and the resilience that comes from embracing the challenges along the way. ---------------------------------------------------- My Ultralight equipment : Backpack Ultralight : YSR Praje 35 L Tarptend : Ngapak tarp Ollo 1P Tracking pole : Aonijie Foldable Carbon Fiber 120CM Set Hiking : Short Pant : Pinnacle Vigo Short Classic Base-layer : Bigarmour Banda - Base Layer Hoodie Sock walk : Staycool Down Jacket: mountainlight Ultralight down Fp700-Fw300 Wind bracket : Pinnacle Windflo ELFS ACTIVE Soft Flask 500ml Sleep System : Bigarmour Kaimana Reborn - Thermo Light Sock sleep : WOL NATUREHIKE Sleeping bag : Pinnacle IZZ Down Sleeping Bag - Black Red TRAVEL PILLOW ULTRALIGHT NATUREHIKE Light System : Headlamp COB Sunrei EOS2 320 Lumens IPX6 Cooking Set : FIRE MAPLE FIREMAPLE TITANIUM HORNET 2 Canister Hike & Run 230gr Toaks titanium 1100ml STAND CANISTER CAMPINGMOON knife : Opinel No 07 Other Equipment : PORTABLE TRAVEL BIDET - SumbuLangit SUMBU LANGIT UL SHOVEL "GARU LANGIT" Sumbu Langit UL Folding Table Camera Set : Fujifilm XT3 Sirui Sniper Lens 23mm F1,2 DJI ACTION 4 ULANZI VL120 RGB 20 Light Tripod SIRUI ------------------------------------------------------------------- • • • Mari berteman, Lakukan perjalanan !!
