Webinar IME: 4 major water events during the 4th quarter 2025 - December 18th, 2025

Context Four major events took place during the last quarter of 2025. IME was involved in each of them; the first was the second preparatory meetings of the UfM Ministerial Declaration on Water held on 5-6 November in Barcelona, which declaration will take place in Rome on 24-25 March 2026. We had a particular focus on the second event, namely the kick-off meeting of the forthcoming Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum held in Barcelona on 6-7 November. We will have the honour and pleasure of organising this forum in Rome, Italy (29 September to 2 October 2026) in collaboration with the One Water Committee Italy and the Union for the Mediterranean. We invite you to look back at the highlights of this kick-off meeting, which brought together more than 120 participants representing 25 countries and around 20 partners. In addition, several IME members participated in COP30, which took place in Belem, Brazil, during the same period, and we will be pleased to review its conclusions regarding the water sector through presentations by two of our members who were present in Belem. Finally, we will get back to the 19th World Water Congress of the International Water Resources Association (IWRA), held in Marrakesh in early December, where IME and the NGO “Nature Conservancy” co-organized a high-level panel (HLP) dedicated to innovations for better water resource management and a special session with the FAO on the theme of”arnessing Non-Conventional Water Resources for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security”.
