35006 'P&O' on load 18! The GWSR Mega Train - 28/05/16

During the first evening of the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway's 2016 Cotswold Festival of Steam, a special train was laid on featuring guest loco 92214 (From the Great Central Railway) and the line's latest flagship, Southern Railway Merchant Navy Class 4-6-2 no.35006 'Peninsular & Oriental S. N. Co.', or 'P&O' for short, who had returned to public service in time for the gala after an extensive and lengthy restoration. The train, comprising of 14 coaches, would see the duo working top and tailed from Toddington to Cheltenham and back, including a trip up the northern extension from Toddington to Laverton and back. I decided to head out for the Cheltenham to Toddington leg, with P&O at the helm. In this short video, we see her getting into her stride at Kayte Lane Crossing, as she pounds out of Cheltenham, with 92214 doing nothing on the back, making the load the equivalent of 18 coaches! She looks and sounds utterly gorgeous, and she is a credit to all those who worked on her. I had originally been holding on to this footage so that I could include in a video of the main gala, which we attended on the Monday. However, I wasn't happy with the large majority of shots I took, so I scrapped the video entirely, which is why this has been uploaded on its own.
