A caring person is hard-pressed not to be anxious and even fearful in these times. How do we escape the grip of fear to live a meaningful life? Learn the three core skills needed to break free of fear from former Harvard faculty member and psychiatrist, Dr. John Woodall. Drawing from vast experience dealing with traumatized populations, Dr. Woodall will explore how trauma disrupts three core elements of our life and the essential keys needed to transform suffering into resilient strengths for a happy life. Dr. John Woodall, a psychiatrist, formerly of Harvard Medical School, has special expertise in post-traumatic stress disorder and resilience. He was Director of the State Department refugee relief effort in the Balkans after the war there, and at the request of the Mayor’s Office of New York City, he developed and implemented a citywide resilience-building program for children after 9/11 that was also implemented in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and in Uganda. Since the Newtown tragedy, he has launched a series of resilience-building efforts there including “21st Century Conversations,” an interfaith effort to promote unity, justice, and cooperative problem-solving to prevent conflict and promote resilience in the aftermath of community tragedy. He represents the Baha’is Community on the Newtown Interfaith Council.
