#Delhicrime #DTC #DelhiMetro #Delhipolice #delhicantt Two habitual thieves in Delhi have once again been arrested by the police, despite having dozens of criminal cases registered against them. Shockingly, each time they were arrested and later released on bail, they returned to their old ways and resumed their criminal activities without fear. According to police officials, both accused had been active in the capital for a long time. In the beginning, their method was extremely calculated and subtle. They primarily targeted overcrowded DTC buses. During peak office hours, when passengers were boarding or deboarding and chaos created pushing and jostling, the duo would take advantage of the confusion to steal mobile phones from people’s pockets. The heavy crowd ensured that victims often did not even realize their phones had been stolen until much later. Several complaints were registered, but identifying the accused in packed buses was a major challenge. When police increased patrolling and deployed plainclothes personnel inside buses, the accused changed their strategy. Although they were arrested multiple times, they managed to secure bail and each time came back with a new plan. After police vigilance increased in buses, the duo shifted their focus to deserted bus stops outside metro stations. They began targeting commuters, especially at night, when people stood waiting for buses while talking on their phones. The accused would arrive on a scooter, slow down near the victim, snatch the mobile phone in seconds, and flee the spot at high speed before anyone could react. Police said the two would conduct prior reconnaissance of the area. They carefully studied timings when footfall was low, locations with poor street lighting, and easy escape routes. This planning helped them evade arrest in several cases despite repeated complaints. Even after every arrest, once granted bail, the duo would reconnect with their old network and resume the same criminal pattern. Police are now reviewing their previous cases and bail conditions to ensure stricter legal action so that they do not return to crime again. The repeated incidents of snatching and mobile theft in Delhi highlight the urgent need for stricter monitoring and stronger legal measures against such habitual offenders. Both accused are currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway.
