So here's my compilation for 2017, and, I must say, 2017 was definitely a few firsts, as well as a few lasts, for me. This was the year I first went out to the CSX W&A, S&NA South, and Henderson Subdivisions. I also made my first big railfanning trip this year, where I got to go visit northern New Jersey and Long Island, NY. Admittedly, I very much planned too much for that trip, but I did get to film a good few crossings on it. I even got to film the only GRS Type B gate mechs and WRRS mini-bells I've ever seen in service so far, along with a certain crossing that @RaisedLetter and @DoubleGG5666 used to frequent, and getting to meet the former for the first time in person there. Another first for me on that trip was getting to shoot some Safetran hybrid bells, given how little use they saw in my home state of Alabama. I also got to film my first truly bell-less crossing this year, which IMHO was nice to finally get. I even got to shoot a caboose for the first time this year, which was pretty neat as well. This year was also the last year that Bob Wallace Avenue had both of its original WRRS cantilevers from the L&N. Going through these clips, you'll also see quite a bit of older power that has either since been retired, rebuilt, and/or repainted in the years that followed. I know at least a couple of the locomotives in this video have since been scrapped as well, sadly. Overall, 2017 was definitely a fun year of railfanning for me, though I wouldn't entirely say it was my best year of railfanning... Also, I apologise for one crossing being repeated in this video, I'd forgotten that I filmed it from both sides simultaneously using my phone so I didn't trim the extra clip out. It was one of the crossings I shot in New Jersey with a WRRS mini-bell, which is now the last surviving one on the CSX River Line, so I don't think y'all'll mind too much, lol.
