On May 25th, the number of earthquakes centered around a little known volcanic complex on the border of Colombia and Ecuador began rapidly increasing. This complex has been at a raised yellow alert level for some time, and the several hundred daily earthquakes marked an intensification of volcanic activity. Clearly, magma is moving at depth. Yet, little is known about the Chiles-Cerro Negro volcanic complex. This video will separate fact from fiction, and discuss the context of the ongoing seismic unrest.
