December 2023 Lake Unknown is nestled high above the Dart River in Mt. Aspiring National Park, Southern Alps, New Zealand /Aotearoa. Despite its large size, it is very inaccessible and very few people visit it every season. This is due to the routes require multiple days and steep / technical terrain off the beaten path. This was my third attempt and I was finally capable enough. On the way there I traversed an high-alpine area called "Iceland" or "fertile Valley", and attempted to summit the nearby Mt.Chaos and and Minos Peak.
