Camino Day 41: Lavacolla to Santiago; We Did It Our Way!!

As we neared the city, my body started to ache. It was the weirdest thing. It’s like it knew we were almost done. My left knee started to hurt, the tops of my feet ached, my right hip popped several times. Once we heard the bagpipes in the tunnel, I knew we were close. I’ve heard those bagpipes in YouTube videos, and watched this scene play out so many times, but this time, here I am, living it. It was all a bit surreal. I stopped, asked Syd and Andi if they were ready, and then we walked through the tunnel together. The tunnel opened up onto the square of Santiago and the cathedral was to my left, but I instantly spotted Ken and made a b-line for him. I sobbed! All the emotions of the last 41 days hit me all at once. No words! #camino2022 #caminodesantiago
