Contrary to popular belief I am not dead and I'm still skiing, I just don't own a gopro anymore Seen here are the last chairs of the day passing through the return terminal on Sunday River's Barker 6. This Doppelmayr D-Line system was completed for Boyne Resorts in 2023 and replaced the Barker Quad, a 1987 retrofitted Yan detachable quad, which was one of the most wanted replacements in the region due to its poor reliability in the last 15 years of its life. The old lift was scrapped. The new lift follows a slightly modified alignment, with the bottom terminal located about 75 feet north of its predecessor, and terminating in about the same location. Today, the Barker 6 was running at 5 meters per second (midweek), though its design speed is 6 meters per second moving 2700 riders per hour. This chair has all the bells and whistles, including bubbles, heated seats, powder coated chair bails, direct drive, loading carpet, in-terminal chair parking (with custom terminal buildings supplementing the Doppelmayr enclosure), and auto-lowering and locking bars. Years ago when Doppelmayr revealed the D-Line system, a handful of Sunday River locals and lift enthusiasts immediately thought of Barker, and its been great to see that vision become a reality. The Barker 6, and its sister lift Jordan 8 represent over $40 million dollars poured into Sunday River in the last 3 years, and they're not done yet. Recorded on February 13, 2025.
