Deep sleep is a 25-minute yin yoga practice designed to gently activate the parasympathetic nervous system and guide the body toward deep, restorative rest. This class is ideal for evenings, bedtime routines or anytime you need to slow down and reset. We begin in diamond pose (we are holding each variation for around three minutes to settle the breath and the nervous system) to ease the hips ansd signal the body that is time to wind down. Gentle windshield-wiper movements transition us into deer pose, where we stay long enough on each side to release deep tension in the hips and lower back. Between sides, we move slowly through cats and cows or organic circles on all fours, keeping the body fluid while maintaining a calm, inward focus. The practice winds down with half frog pose on the belly, followed by chandra bhedana pranayama, the cooling breath that encourages relaxation and prepares the mind for sleep.
