Hopping on a ferry to Orkney to see one our favourite ORCA!

(Part 1) After a very distant sighting of a pod of 10 plus orca (killer whales) at Duncansby Head the day before, we hope on a ferry over to orkney after one of our favourite orca had been seen that morning - Bull 34 from the 27s pod! We just made it in time to book onto Pentland Ferries to get over to Orkney however sightings of the orca went quiet. We tried to find them for several hours before they turned up again right where we had just walked past! We sprinted back to the van and got ahead of the pod just in time for them to head past us at Skaill Bay. We were then so happy to get a super close encounter with the pod, including 152 and her calf (the smallest member of the pod!), and of course one of our favourites - Bull 34! The pod hung around really close to shore just in front of us, hunting and feeding on seals as we watched on in awe. They eventually headed around the headland in the sunset as we were losing the light. What an amazing way to end the day and we were so happy we took the gamble to get the ferry over to orkney!
