Greetings and welcome to a summer wandering in a very beautiful old woodland on the shores of Lough Derg among some spectacular ancient Oaks both living and dead. I can't even imagine how long some these magnificent great green guardians have stood watch in this magical place and I am fortunate to find a perfect cooking spot on the stocky limbs of a fallen giant. In this video I cook a simple versatile flatbread and make a fortifying reindeer and chanterelle soup. I used approximately 120 grams of flour to make 2 flat breads, you can use more or less if you wish you are only limited by your pan size. The bread can be made thicker if desired just adjust the cooking times accordingly. Don't add too much water just keep kneading slowly until the dough stops sticking to your fingers, then flatten it out to the desired size and thickness on a flour dusted cutting board or tree stump. Then simply place it on hot pan and cook for 2-5 minutes a side occasionally pressing on the edges to ensure it is evenly cooked then serve with your favorite forest feast🌳 I have kept this recipe deliberately simple, it is perfect for any bushcraft/hiking adventures. A bag of flour takes up little room and can feed many people a calorie and carbohydrate dense accompaniment to a main meal or it makes a wholesome standalone snack with a little butter. Cooking over the fire is highly recommended with bacon, the cooked meat fat soaks into the bread and makes a delicious mouthwatering breakfast bread. Please experiment with adding your own combination of ingredients and if you find a tasty recipe let me know in the comment section (or keep the mouthwatering formula secret :-D) Enjoy and sláinte! 🌳 #outdoorcooking #bushcraftcooking
