In today’s video, I’m going to show you how to create this beautiful square neck ruffled baby frock, as seen in the image. It’s a trendy and easy pattern that’s perfect for any occasion. So, let’s get started! Materials Needed: • Fabric (cotton, georgette, or your choice) • Measuring tape • Scissors • Sewing machine • Matching thread • Pins • Ruler • Tailor’s chalk Step 1: Taking Measurements First, take the following measurements: • Chest circumference • Waist circumference • Dress length (shoulder to desired hemline) Step 2: Cutting the Bodice • Fold the fabric and mark the bodice dimensions based on the child’s measurements. • Create a square neckline at the front and back. • Cut out two bodice pieces (front and back). Step 3: Cutting the Ruffles • For the ruffles along the straps, cut two rectangular strips (width: 4-5 inches, length: about 1.5 times the length of the shoulder to waist measurement). • Hem one long edge and gather the opposite edge to create the ruffle. Step 4: Cutting the Skirt • For the gathered skirt, cut two rectangles (front and back). The width should be about twice the waist circumference, and the length depends on the desired frock length. • For the second tier, cut another rectangle slightly wider than the first tier, with the height about 1/3 of the total skirt length. Step 5: Attaching the Ruffles • Pin the ruffles to the front and back bodice pieces along the shoulder straps. Ensure the ruffled side is facing outwards. • Sew the ruffles in place. Step 6: Stitching the Bodice • Join the front and back bodice pieces at the side seams using a simple straight stitch. • Hem the neckline for a clean finish. Step 7: Assembling the Skirt • Gather the top edges of both the first and second tiers of the skirt. • Attach the first tier to the bottom of the bodice, making sure the gathers are evenly distributed. • Attach the second tier to the first. Step 8: Adding a Waistband • Cut a rectangular strip of fabric for the waistband, about 2 inches wide and the waist circumference plus seam allowance. • Pin and stitch the waistband around the waistline for a polished look. Step 9: Finishing Touches • Hem the skirt’s bottom edge for a neat finish. • Add buttons, snaps, or a zipper at the back for closure. And that’s it!
