This video is a class on common statistics for use in classical test analysis. Examples are given using software that can be downloaded from my website, and also SPSS. I cover what are frequently mistakenly described as "descriptive statistics" (because they are really a hypothesis about a mythical "average" person), and item analysis. It is advisable to watch this before you tackle the reliability class. The content was originally designed for the second module on language testing that I taught on the University of Leicester MA in Applied Linguistics. It does not cover the use of IRT, but the basic principles including assumptions about normal distribution still holds for what are essentially alternative more complex probabilistic models. See my video interview with John de Jong for more information on IRT.
