Today’s journey through Connaught Place starts with a visit to Ashwini Ji, where he serves his beloved chole bhature with a unique twist—his famous peepay wale chole. Prepared without onion or garlic, this chickpea curry is slow-cooked in a large, traditional ghee can, giving it a deep, earthy flavor that draws in regulars who appreciate this rare style. Next, we head to Kutty’s, a popular spot among office-goers who enjoy simple, comforting South Indian dishes. Their crispy masala dosa and sweet rawa kesari have become favorites, offering a quick, satisfying meal that hits the spot every time. No visit to Connaught Place would be complete without Wenger’s, one of the city’s oldest bakeries. We tried some of their classics, including shami kebab, chicken patty, Black Forest cake, and pineapple cake. Each bite transported us to a simpler time, capturing the timeless charm that has made Wenger’s an enduring favorite. Our journey continued to Nizam’s Kathi Kebab, known for its extensive menu and especially for its juicy kathi kebabs. Wrapped in soft parathas and perfectly spiced, these kebabs remain a go-to choice for anyone craving authentic flavors. At Embassy, we stopped by their takeaway joint to try their famous samosa—a giant 500-gram snack filled with flavorful potato stuffing. It’s a unique, hearty indulgence, and the kind of nostalgic treat that CP regulars love. A visit to Depaul’s was next, where we enjoyed a cup of their famous coffee. With a rich backstory and loyal fan base, Depaul’s is a place steeped in tradition, and every sip of coffee reminds us of its place in CP’s cultural landscape. Finally, we ended the tour with a visit to Pandey’s Paan, a perfect example of adapting tradition to modern times. Their paan varieties add a refreshing finish to the journey, showing how CP continues to blend old and new.
