THE SKELPIES monument port Glasgow flown with the dji mini 5 pro. The Skelpies—officially The Shipbuilders of Port Glasgow—are two towering 10‑metre (33‑foot), 14‑tonne stainless‑steel sculptures standing in Coronation Park beside the River Clyde. Created by artist John McKenna, they were completed and officially launched in 2023 as a tribute to the generations of men and women who powered Port Glasgow’s once‑world‑famous shipbuilding industry. Their construction mirrors real shipbuilding techniques: internal steel “ribs” clad with hand‑cut metal plates, echoing the hulls once built in the neighbouring yards. The figures are dramatically lit at night, with colours shifting every few seconds—an effect that has quickly made them a favourite subject for photographers. Positioned between the historic lighthouses at Devil’s Point and the still‑active Ferguson Marine shipyard, the Skelpies serve as both a memorial and a modern landmark—celebrating the craft, labour, and legacy that shaped Port Glasgow and the Lower Clyde THANKS TO SIMPLYFREEMP3MUSIC
