Daniel and his friends were young men living in a foreign land not by choice but by force. They were taken from their homeland and pressured to adopt a new culture and forget their own identity. In Daniel 2, their lives were suddenly placed in grave danger when King Nebuchadnezzar ordered all the wise men of Babylon to be executed. Because no one could tell the king his dream and its interpretation, Daniel and his friends were included in the decree. Daniel’s response reveals a genuine relationship with God. Instead of panic, fear, or self-reliance, he faced this life-threatening crisis with calm discernment and complete dependence on the Lord. When life demands answers we do not have, how do we respond? When pressure is intense and the future uncertain, where do we turn? Like Daniel, we should seek God’s wisdom. 1. Respond with PRUDENCE (v. 13–16) 2. Respond with PRAYER (vv. 17–18) 3. Respond with PRAISE (vv. 19–23) GROWTH GROUP DISCUSSION 1. When you face sudden pressure or crisis, what is usually your first response? How does Daniel’s calm and wise reaction in verses 13–16 challenge the way you respond to difficult situations today? 2. Daniel immediately turned to prayer and invited others to pray with him (verses 17–18). What does this teach us about depending on God and involving fellow believers when we face problems beyond our control? 3. Daniel praised God even before the king’s decree was lifted (verses 19–23). Why is it difficult to praise God in uncertain situations, and how can learning to praise Him in advance deepen our trust in His wisdom and sovereignty?
