Room tour of a Premium Room of the Holiday Inn Frankfurt Airport. The hotel is in Gateway Gardens close to terminal 2 of Frankfurt International Airport and just a short walk from the S-Bahn station “Gateway Gardens”. The hotel now offers two tablets for self check-in. Unfortunately, this is for many reasons not very appealing. First everybody can see your private details while you check in as the screen is visible for everybody in line. Second, unlike Hilton you cannot preselect a room. This is done by the hotel and usually ignores any remarks. Instead of a room on a high floor away from the elevator, I received a room on the lowest floor near the elevator facing the courtyard. The hotel is due to earlier stays (or at least should be if they care about customer preferences) aware, that I even forgo any upgrade for high floor and away from elevator. So I need to wait for an agent. Waiting time was short and I was not greeted as Diamond Members but could choose my Diamond amenity (Breakfast). I received an upgrade to an Executive Room. To get the invoice in the name of the company was not put in the system. The hotel is built around a courtyard. Rooms facing the courtyard are quiet but lack any view. My Executive Rooms was this time facing the courtyard and had no view but was quiet. A small gym is in the basement of the hotel and open 24/7. A restaurant and bar is located on the ground floor. The rooms facing the courtyard have a different layout. There is no hallway. Opposite the entrance is the bathroom with sink, bath and toilet. Water pressure was good; towels were provided for two persons in small, medium and large size. The rooms have floor heating, which only is turned on in winter. The actual room is not much bigger. These rooms come with slight upgraded amenities like Nespresso machine, minibar with three bottles of beer, two bottles of coke, two bottles of still and sparkling water and juice. The rooms feature a grey-brown colour scheme. Space is a bit limited. A luggage shelf is available. Closet is small but me thinks that most people only stay for one night. The bed is comfortable. Curtains block the light and there sound proofing is good (if the windows, which could be opened, are closed. Breakfast is not as good as it used to be. Both variety and quality decreased over the years. Scrambled eggs are not prepared small bowls, which were lukewarm and the portion rather small. Sausages were also only lukewarm and did not taste. Vegetables were okay. A very small selection of cereals and an even less selection of fruit. Bread and rolls were hard. Staff was attentive and friendly though. Check out via machine was okay, but the invoice had not the correct address and there was no one to correct it available. The hardware of the hotel is still okay, but service wise it going down. I will not use this hotel as my preferred hotel for stays longer than one day any longer which need to be in the vicinity of the airport. (February 2026)
