The former president of Austin Bonsai Society, Brandon Baldauf, shares his experience in bonsai for the February 2021 monthly workshop. This is the first virtual workshop the club has attempted. Each of the 9 participants had once of the presented Chinese Junipers delivered to their residence before the workshop. The topics covered include how to trim and clean a Juniper; style and design; wiring basics; and jin & shari creation. Video Recorded and Produced by Ruwan Perera. All Rights Reserved for Austin Bonsai Society. http://www.austinbonsaisociety.com/ The Austin Bonsai Society is a non-profit organization to provide guidance and education for individuals who wish to expand their knowledge and skill in the art of bonsai. The Society holds regular meetings on the second Wednesday of each month. Our social hour begins at 7:00 PM, followed by our program at 7:30 PM. We meet at the Zilker Garden Center building, located at Barton Springs Road in Austin, Texas. We offer individual and family membership. This membership include lectures, demonstrations, slides and other material. The Austin Bonsai Society usually organizes several digging trips each year to collect native plant material, such as cedar elm and Ashe juniper. Visitors are always welcome! Brandon has been on the ABS board since 2016, is on the Board of Directors for The Texas State Bonsai Exhibit, and founded Hawk Eye Bonsai in 2018. Hawk Eye Bonsai is an Austin, Texas based bonsai collective focusing on exploring the art of bonsai. Hawk Eye has a legacy bonsai service working with Texas Ranchers and can often be found at urban yamadori sites in Austin. http://www.hawkeyebonsai.com
