In this video, we showcase our primary search skills during a residential fire simulation at Virginia Beach Fire Academy TRFA 156. We entered the structure blindfolded and proceeded with a simulated fire attack and primary search of all the rooms. Our objective was to find any trapped civilians and get them to safety. This video is part of a series of training videos on how to breach doors, windows, and cars. Check out the whole playlist here: http://bit.ly/BreachTraining As you can see from the footage, the inside of the burn building is dark and smokey. In a real fire, you will not be able to see anything, and the smoke is often black or gray, which is why we train with blindfolds. Our training teaches us to rely on our training and inherent mental calmness to get the job done right. In the first part of the video, we demonstrate our garden hose lay and front porch drill. Then, our instructor gives us a simulated fire scenario, and we enter the structure to execute the primary search. The second part of the video is dark, but you can hear me or read the subtitles to know that I found a victim inside a closet in the bathroom. Once I communicated this to my team, Recruit Lapid grabbed the victim and proceeded to drag them outside to safety. We take our training seriously at Virginia Beach Fire Academy, and primary search is a crucial skill for firefighters to master. We hope that this video will give you a glimpse into the rigorous training that we undergo to become the best firefighters we can be.
