St Ives Coastal Town Walk | Cornwall | English Countryside | 4K

Welcome to our summer videos in Cornwall! We Will be sharing with you some of the beautiful places from around this lovely English county. In our second video we are continuing our walk around the beautiful town of St Ives in Cornwall, England. We begin our walk with the most stunning view across to The Harbour area and Smeaton's Pier. From here we walk along the lovely Pedn Olva Walk before heading into the beautiful cobbled streets of the town. St la's Church is a Grade I listed building and is named after the Irish Saint la who, legend says, arrived in Cornwall in the 5th Century. Market Place, which leads off to Fore Street and down to The Harbour, has the large granite rectangular building of Market House at its centre. The building, originally a timber Guildhall, was built in 1832 and once had a market on the ground floor and Guildhall, Town Council and Jail on the upper floors. The newer Guildhall was built further down the road and the Market House now houses shops on the ground floor and a snooker club on the upper floor. Fore Street is the main shopping area of St Ives with many local shops selling crafts, clothing & surfwear and accessories. There are also lovely cafes, bars and restaurants along here. We turn off Fore Street to walk along the beautiful cobbled Virgin Street with it's famous green door at the start. The 200 year old door is actually the property of the owners of St Ives Bakery on the corner of Fore Street. The now sealed door actually leads to their living room and they had the door listed after The Tate St Ives offered to buy it, which they turned down. Railings were put up but people are welcome to take photographs. The Digey takes us down to the area of Downalong with it's cobbled streets and beautiful cottages, many of which are holiday accommodation. We slowly make our way around this lovely part of St Ives, including a stop to view Porthmeor Beach before heading down the quaint narrow street of Bethesda Hill and finishing our walk on The Harbour overlooking the fishing boats and Smeaton's Pier.
