Nerja's historic center is transformed during the Christmas season, with the Balcón de Europa as the focal point of the vibrant celebrations. The cobbled streets of the old town is converted once again to a traditional Christmas scene - filled with light, music, culture and traditions, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy a magical Christmas. The Plaza de España plays host to the traditional Christmas market and is filled with cultural activities. From here, visitors can wander through the decorated streets to the Iglesia El Salvador. The municipal nativity scene (Belén) is on display on the ground floor of the town hall. The Christmas Market 2024 in Nerja features traditional wooden stalls, local artisan products and delicious regional treats. The event will run from 2nd of December to 6th of January, offering a variety of activities for all ages, including live music, children's workshops and themed shows. Located in the central Plaza de España, this event is a must for those looking to get into the spirit of the season. The big New Year's Eve Party is another celebration to look forward to - it is the grand party on December 31st at the Plaza Balcón de Europa, starting at 11pm, followed by the Three Kings Parade on January 5th. There will be traditional pastorals and zambombás musical performances in the Las Protegidas district of Nerja and Los Poetas in Maro, in Plaza de España and in El Salvador church throughout the Christmas period.
