Distracted Driving Mock Crash - Papillion-La Vista High School 4/17/2015

On Friday, April 17 approximately 800 junior and senior high school students from Papillion-La Vista High School converged onto the north parking lot for a “mock” crash simulation. As students arrived in the parking lot, they witnessed a mock, two car crash complete with high school drama students as victims. Emergency personnel including fire trucks, rescue squads and life flight responded to the “mock” crash as if it were a real crash scene. Students heard over the loudspeaker the communication that took place between the emergency personnel. At the conclusion of the “mock” crash, students assembled in the auditorium. During the assembly, speakers talked about the dangers of drinking and/or texting while driving and students watched a powerful video on texting and driving. The ultimate goal of the event is to get the word out to our students and hope for a safe prom and graduation event as well as keeping our kids safe every day and night.
