Welcome to Episode 1 of my Chengdu Wander Chronicles. I arrived in this warm, lively city with almost no voice — but losing my voice helped me listen more deeply to the places, people, and moments around me. In this episode, I wander through Chengdu with my sister: tasting Sichuan dishes (some cold, some spicy, all unforgettable 🌶️) visiting Mixun, a Michelin vegetarian restaurant finding meaning inside the Chengdu Art Museum learning about bamboo painting techniques and wartime photography seeing baby pandas (the ultimate serotonin shot) ending the night with live music at Bu Er Restaurant and closing the day with New York–style cocktails at Jing Bar Between food, art, and the museum conversations, I found myself reflecting on relationships, effort, emotional maturity — and how even in a city full of noise, clarity often comes during the quietest moments.
