Reason for Implnt Failure: • Reasons for Implant Failure||क्यों फेल हो ... ------------------------------------- Dental implants are small, threaded posts that surgically replace missing teeth. In addition to filling in gaps in your smile, dental implants improve chewing function and overall oral health. Once healed, implants work much like natural teeth. A dental implant has three main parts: Threaded post: You can think of this like an artificial tooth root. A provider places it in your jawbone during an oral surgery procedure. Abutment: This is a tiny connector post. It screws into the threaded post and extends slightly beyond your gums. It serves as the foundation for your new artificial tooth. Restoration: A dental restoration is any prosthetic that repairs or replaces teeth. Common dental implant restorations are crowns, bridges and dentures. Types of Implant Endosteal implants: The most common type, these are surgically placed directly into the jawbone and are often shaped like screws. They are a common option for patients with enough healthy jawbone to support them. Subperiosteal implants: These are placed on top of the jawbone but under the gum tissue. This is a good alternative for patients who do not have enough healthy jawbone for an endosteal implant and do not want to undergo bone augmentation surgery. Zygomatic implants: A more complex type of implant that is anchored in the cheekbone (zygoma) instead of the jawbone. This is an option for patients with severe bone loss in the upper jaw. Benefits of dental implants Stability: They provide a stable, secure base for artificial teeth, which prevents slipping or shifting when eating and speaking. Natural feel: They look, feel, and function much like natural teeth. Bone health: They help preserve the jawbone by stimulating it, preventing the bone deterioration that can occur with missing teeth. No damage to adjacent teeth: Unlike traditional bridges, implants do not require altering or "grinding down" healthy teeth for support. Durability: With proper care, they can be a long-lasting solution for missing teeth, with high success rates over many years. Potential drawbacks and considerations Cost: The cost of dental implants can be a significant factor. Surgical procedure: The process requires surgery and a healing period for the implant to fuse with the bone. Oral hygiene: Success depends on maintaining meticulous oral hygiene and regular dental visits. Eligibility: You need healthy gums and sufficient jawbone to support the implant. Some patients may require a bone graft before the implant can be placed. #indradentalvlogs #drrahultripathi #dentalimplants
