The city Shrivardhan nearby to Harihareshwar, is a town in Raigad district, in Maharashtra. Harihareshwar is known as Kashi of Southern India.Harihareshwar is home to a 16th century Shiva temple in which the presiding deities are the Trimuti: Brahma, Visnu and Mahesh, with Devi Parvati. The Trimurti are represented here in linga form, or "triple linga". The hill on the seashore at Harihareshwar is also known as Harihar or Pushpadri. The temple is old and the construction period of this temple can not be easily said.The temple might be constructed in Shivajis Period as one can find such sculptures. But was re-constructed by First Bajirao Peshawa in 1723. Harihareshwar was the family deity of the Peshwas, thus giving it a place of importance in Maratha history. The other temples in the premises are of Shri Kalbhairav and Shri Yogeshwari. Next to a water well called Brahma Koop there are temples dedicated to Ganesh and Hanuman.
