We spent 5 Days exploring the Adirondacks in early spring soon after ice out in the Raquette and Saranac Wilderness areas by canoe. We camped on two spectacular backcountry camping sites and though it was very wet and somewhat cold, the scenery and experience was amazing. I had my Nova Craft Bob's Special 15 foot canoe with me for the trip. Along with me was Aaron Rouby from the youtube channel rouby44. He did an amazing job planning the trip with all contingencies accounted for. Please check out his channel also. Along with us were Amanda, Tino, Burr, and David all of whom I was meeting for the first time. I could not have travelled with better people and sharing the experience with them was amazing. I would like to also thank the awesome Dude who was there at the locks and helped us get our boats thru. Because we were there so early in the season, we did have to be careful with the ice cold water and staying dry to avoid the dangers of hypothermia. This video is a little different for me. My films have all pretty much been silent films to this point. I enjoy that genre and the challenge of putting together a story without words. I never thought anyone would ever watch my videos so they were made more for me to remember what it felt like on a hike or a paddle that I have done. But, now adding narration to this film, hopefully allows you to know what is going on inside my mind while I am in the backcountry, and what I think about the places that I go. I was a history major in college so my mind often turns to various thoughts of how human beings got to the point we are at now. The wilderness is a huge part of that story, so when Im out there I am often thinking about us in that way. I don't want to change the way I make the films too much. They still have to be good enough for me without words, so I can still feel what it was like to be there when I watch them. These were originally intended as home movies for me to watch, when I can no longer get out there and do the things I still have a little time left hopefully, to do now. But, adding a little narration hopefully will allow you to get the full experience of not only what I felt when I was out there, but also what I was thinking. Leave a comment if you enjoyed the film. I appreciate the loyal support many of you have given me the last few years. It certainly means alot that you have enjoyed the films and have been kind enough to leave a nice word. I hope to have many more films like this in the future, God willing and if you have enjoyed the content, please hit the like button, consider subscribing, and leave a word so that I can get back to you and thank you for watching. "I am a peacerunner and if this is how you feel when you come to these places...then you...are a peacerunner too". I hope you all are, and God Bless.
