We know information is power - but is it too much? Do you feel like you are drinking from a fire hose? Are you OVER-CONSUMING information? Enter the Information Diet. Part one is here: • The Information Diet & What I Learned from... Take back control of your life. Stop living IN your electronic devices. Too many emails - unsubscribe! Too many podcasts and website - that tell you the same thing? Pair it down! Taking in content that gets your fired up and emotional just before bed? Time to rethink if that is a good strategy to keep implementing. TLDW (too long, didn't watch) 1) Redundancy - pair down what you see, watch and listen to. Being IN your phone or technology takes you OUT of the world and you're missing the bigger picture. 2) Over-consuming information - like drinking from a fire hose. You will never absorb it all, and will likely have to return to recall it - as you didn't absorb the information the first time. 3) Plan - when do you choose to go online / social media? Is it all day, every day and are you still staying productive? If it's distracting you, you need to fix it and designate times for fun and social media. This way, you won't create extra work later on because you were too busy seeing how nice someone else's life is going on Instagram. 4) Emotions - does the content you consume trigger something in you? Does it make you happy? sad? depressed? resentful? fearful? If so, maybe you want to think about when you consume it so that it does not negatively impact you later on or when interacting with others.
