Visiting Peggys Cove - Historic Lunenburg and the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens - Canada 🇨🇦

Hello, and Welcome. The good weather stays with us as we head south. Our first stop is the the idyllic fishing village of Peggy`s Cove with its picture perfect small habour surrounded by quaint buildings and as we walk across the ice smoothed granite rocks to Peggy`s Point a cute little lighthouse. A little further down the coast is the amazingly colourful port of Lunenburg. This town was one of the earliest British settlements in Nova Scotia. It has been awarded World Heritage Status as one of the best examples of a planned British colonial settlement in North America. Its wonderful 1800`s buildings are a reminder of the days when this port was made rich by fishing. It is still one of the most important fish processing towns in Canada. Today it is also a magnet for tourists with its host of historic buildings which are painted in a glorious rainbow of colours. The towns name is in honour of King George II who was also Duke of Brunswick-Luneburg. We now travel over to the south eastern shore of the Bay of Fundy famous for its huge tidal range. We stop first at the old town of Annapolis Royal. Founded by the French as Port Royale, it is one of the oldest European Settlements in North America. It finally was ceded to Great Britain in 1713. Having been the Colonial Capital of French Acadia it was supplanted by the new capital of Nova Scotia, Halifax, in 1749. While the town continued to have importance as a fortress and fishing base it inevitably declined as Halifax grew. We spent a couple of pleasant hours exploring the remnants of the fort (Fort Anne) and the towns historic gardens. Here we were able to see some of the oldest roses in North America. We ended the day watching the sun lowering over an arm of the Bay of Fundy after another fabulous day exploring this amazing part of Canada. #canada #novascotia #peggyscove #fishingvillage #lighthouse #peggyspoint #lunenburg #worldheritage #british #britishcolonialrule #britishcolony #frenchcolony #portroyale #annapolisroyal #garden #fortanne #fortress #bayoffundy #fundy #fortress Hope you enjoy this everyone, If you did please Like & Subscribe to my Channel.    / @ivorstravels   Many thanks for watching Ivor.
