In this episode I swap a junkyard 8.8 rear end from a Ford Explorer into my 1970 Dodge Challenger. The original Mopar 8 3/4” Sure-Grip rear differential unfortunately grenaded itself on a hard 1-2 shift at the drag strip on a set of Mickey Thomson drag radials. The Ford 8.8 swap has 4:10 gears, a limited slip, and disc brakes and should add some strength over the 8.75”. I cut off the original spring perches, sway bar mounts, and traction bar mounts and weld on my own custom leaf spring perches and sway bar mounts.
