This ship is absolutely busted. When I was initially building this ship, I was using threat missiles and weapons as threat missiles are absolutely cracked, 2-3x better than anything else in the game by DPS/tOP. Pretty much won with 4 ships first try. So then I tried limiting myself to 3. I also won on my first try. As 2 paragons were not going to beat 8 ordos, threat or not, I decided to limit myself to not using any threat weapons, including HMDs/voidblasters, so I could abuse them on a weaker ship. Here is the one of the threat build I had, as you could honestly use any large energy and have it work. Gigacannons might honestly be good to try to kill stuff before they get away, lol. https://ibb.co/C3yS9M67 https://ibb.co/Pzg2KsGR. Frigates couldn't even get close, and everything died without me lifting a finger. I tried several non-threat builds, which included the standard 2x autopulse + 2 tach, 2 plasma + 2 tach, as well as 2 autopulses, 1 plasma, and 1 tach. Results were indeterminate. Going purely off DC damage Rs and not pro-rata, 2x plasma performed the worst at 0.61x dmg as percentage of total OP, with a 50% subsidy on flux. tachyon ranged from 0.77-0.98, discounting softflux at 80% in line with eFM's effects. autopulses performed 1-1.2. Despite this, I felt that results were pretty broad, and I didn't fully trust my fledgling formulas (specifically, dividing weapon damage % by % of total weapon op. if anyone has a better idea of how to interpret/standardise it, let me know). I felt like I wasnt getting enough information by running 3 ships differentiating loadouts, so I decided to try one ship build x3, 3 times. I tried this one first, and I simply won. Regarding the other weapons, pd is generally mythical. putting more pd at the back only incrementally increases missiles shot down (ballpark 30~ for 4 or 6 more lasers). I used gravitron as :nerd: mathematically 5% of additional total shield damage from all weapons exceeded one kinetic blaster. I would probably use a kinetic blaster or IRAL though. Replacing turret apl with plasma on true autofire might also be good. 2 lance build also generally work. This ship is just goated, but just dont use 2x gigacannon. Not sure if HVDs might help with tachyon lance damage. Its something I would have liked to try. Plasma is probably also OK. The biggest mistake I made was accidentally putting the turret autopulse off true autofire instead of the tachyon lance, and as you could see in DCR, it got outperformed by the hardpoints. Regarding hullmods, accelerated shields is kind of necessary. This ship loves to drop shields and take big damage, and not getting it doesn't change that behaviour (though maybe scf might? lol). Even wanted reinforced bulkheads at once point for that reason, but due to cost I just got aux thruster + accel shields instead. Not sure if officer aggression impacts its willingness to drop shields. That, CH, and flux coil adjunct would be my next picks if HS was unnecessary. The reason I think paragon is so 'busted' is because of its immense flux pool and shield efficiency, letting you soak up incredible amounts of damage. The ship would be even better if AI used fortress shields more and acted like a phase ship, but it seems reluctant to do so, even when surrounded. I wonder if weapon choice/aggression affects it, but it doesnt really seem so at a glance. I think that given how much remains untested, I might run a few sims of 4v3 Radiants against Paragons as thats where they struggle.
