In this talk Mrs. Somasree Bose Awasthi explains how determination, resilience and self-belief helped her navigate and succeed in the male dominated world of sales. Beginning her career at a time when few women were present in frontline sales roles she faced skepticism, bias and numerous challenges. Through persistence, performance and continuous learning she steadily rose through the ranks ultimately reaching the position of Chief Marketing Officer. Her journey highlights the importance of breaking stereotypes, building credibility through results and empowering more women to step into leadership roles. This talk offers powerful insights and inspiration for anyone striving to challenge barriers and redefine possibilities in their careers. With over 22 years of experience in the FMCG industry, she has successfully led businesses exceeding ₹7,500 crore across diverse categories including personal care, home care, hair care, and edible oils. As the former Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Marico, and previously at Godrej Consumer Products Ltd, she played a pivotal role in building high-performing teams, driving strategic marketing and planning, spearheading business growth and transformation, and shaping product and category innovation strategies. Her leadership in brand building and equity management has left a lasting impact on some of India’s most iconic brands. She has helmed renowned brands such as Saffola, Parachute, Cinthol, HIT, and Good Knight. Her innovation and go-to-market strategies led to the successful launch of new brands like Godrej aer and Godrej Magic, marking the company’s entry into air care and liquid handwash segments.
