Brothers and sisters, just like the thief who was crucified besides Yahshua on the Calvary repented and the Lord granted him salvation, many unbelievers and pagans will make it to heaven while some Christians, especially those full of spiritual pride, will not. Salvation is not about religious identity—it is about humility, repentance, and faith. Spiritual pride can exclude those who think they are closest to God, while grace often finds those who know they need it most. 1. Humility saves; pride blocks grace. Example: the Humble Outsider vs. the Proud Insider An unbeliever was granted mercy: the tax collector who cries, “Have mercy on me, a sinner” goes home justified. While the religious believer is rejected: the Pharisee who boasts of fasting and righteousness is not justified. (Luke 18:9–14) 2. Repentance matters more than religious knowledge. Example, the Repentant Criminal vs. Religious Leaders. The unbeliever is saved: the thief on the cross asks Yahshua to remember him and is promised paradise. While religious leaders loose paradise: the chief priests reject the Messiah despite knowing the Scriptures. (Luke 23:39–43; John 5:39–40) 3. Gratitude and faith outweigh entitlement. Example, the Grateful Foreigner vs. the Entitled Believers An unbeliever is healed and saved: the Samaritan leper returns to give thanks; Yahshua says his faith saved him. While the religious insiders miss it: The other nine (likely Jews) do not return in gratitude. (Luke 17:11–19) 4. Faith, not heritage or status, opens the Kingdom. Example, the Faithful Gentile vs. the Self-Assured Religious. An unbeliever is honored: the Roman centurion’s faith amazes Yahshua. While the religious insiders are warned: “Many sons of the kingdom will be cast out.” (Matthew 8:10–12) 5. Awareness of need invites mercy; pride repels it. Example, the Broken Repenter vs. the Spiritually Proud. An unbeliever is forgiven: a sinful woman weeps at Yahshua’s feet and is forgiven because she loves much. While a religious host is corrected: Simon the Pharisee’s pride blinds him to grace. (Luke 7:36–50) This Canaanite woman’s story is not just about faith. It is about mental endurance, spiritual humility, and deliverance persistence.
