"Forgotten Metropolis" (Demon) by GGLudvigg | Geometry Dash 2.2

A lot of people have been telling me to upload this, and after beating it, I can definitely see why. "Forgotten Metropolis" by GGLudvigg is an extremely well-made XL solo level. It was made for JamAttack's most recent contest, which set various requirements on this, such as having a similar style to some of his levels and featuring a crystal at the end (seen at 2:33). I'd say this a great job with the rules in mind, so I'm sure it will place highly in that once the results happen. With such a long level, you need to vary both the visuals and gameplay throughout to keep the player engaged. GGLudvigg did just that, with the visuals taking you on a journey from being underwater through a city and then all the way into space. Each of these areas have fitting block designs and backgrounds, as well as a distinct color scheme, which help set them apart from each other. Thanks to smooth transitions, such as at 1:49 where you warp into space, everything is nicely tied together despite the different visuals. Each part also varies the gameplay, with the first part allowing you to take different paths swapping between being underwater and right above it, while the final part from 2:03 has lower gravity. As seen, both of these examples suit their area's visuals perfectly. I will say that the first minute or so was noticeably harder for me to get down, mostly due to this water gimmick requiring some memorization depending on the path you take. After that it's relatively easy to fluke. If anything, it isn't the worst to have the first parts of a long level be slightly harder, though, as you at least don't have to die far into your attempts. Aside from this, I found the gameplay enjoyable, especially due to how it matched the visuals.
