Follow along with Michelle as she guides you through Finger and Thumb Stretches in a Cast: Real Time Routine. Sometimes a wrist cast is made too high on the fingers, leaving you with extremely limited finger and thumb range of motion for several weeks. Luckily these gentle passive finger and thumb stretches can help you loosen up your fingers and ultimately prevent finger deformities when your cast comes off. Most of the time, you have to wear a cast for several weeks in order for your wrist to heal. This can lead to unwanted swelling and stiffness of your fingers and thumb long after your cast is removed. Performing these finger and thumb exercises in a cast will not only decrease finger and thumb pain, but they will keep you fingers loosened up so you can focus on your wrist when your cast comes off! Always check with your doctor to make sure you can perform these finger and thumb exercises in your cast. (See our full disclaimer below) P.S. I appreciate every subscriber.
