📍 Filmed between 12:45 and 15:45 Non-stop afternoon action at Peterborough sees filthy freight, sleek intercity sets, rare light engines, driver interaction, and graffiti-covered Class 66s — capped off with a surprise bonus clip at Leicester. This is British rail variety at its absolute best. Welcome back to Trains & Freight Diaries for Part 2 of our busy Peterborough Station rail session, filmed on Thursday 19th December 2025. Following on from a packed morning, the afternoon continued to deliver relentless action across the East Coast Main Line, blending high-speed passenger services with heavy freight, light engines, and eye-catching liveries. Passenger operations were led by a strong showing of modern traction, including 801229 working 1D14, 800111 on 1D15, and 801216 powering through on 1S17. LNER bi-mode and electric formations remained a constant feature, with 801211 on 1E12 and 801216 showing the pace and presence these units bring to the ECML. A standout moment came courtesy of 82211 & 91114 on 1A19, where the driver delivered a fantastic toot and wave on approach — exactly the kind of interaction railfans love and a reminder of why platform-end filming remains so rewarding. Further electric action followed with 82205 & 91130 on 1A20, reinforcing Peterborough’s role as a hub for Class 91 and Mk4 workings. Freight traffic was equally impressive and relentless. 66532 stormed through on 4L93, while 66181 handled 4L45 with authority. The unmistakable growl of 66097 echoed across the station on 4L32, followed by a solid run from 66957 on 4E24. Multiple GBRf workings added colour and variety, including 66782 on 4L13, 66756 on 4M29, and 66707 on 4M23. One of the most visually striking moments came from 66703, heavily covered in graffiti, paired with 66747 on 4E21 — a real talking point and a stark snapshot of modern freight operations. Light engine interest was provided by 66786 on 0L99, while 66705 worked 6E88 and 66567 passed on 4L73, keeping the freight flow constant. Regional passenger traffic was represented by 221142 on 1D83, adding Cross Country variety to the mix. The video concludes with a bonus clip from Leicester, captured while waiting for a connecting service, featuring 60026 running light engine on 6L92 — a fitting end to another action-packed chapter. This second part continues to showcase the diversity, unpredictability, and atmosphere of UK rail operations in winter conditions.
