On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (Wednesday November 22nd, 2017) Dennis Tzeng, Jon Schnepp, Perri Nemiroff, Ashley Mova discuss the following: 1) Justice League projected to lose between $50-100 million for WB 2) Batman Will Appear in the ‘Flashpoint’ Movie, Geoff Johns Confirms 3) John Lasseter Taking Leave of Absence From Pixar Amid "Missteps" 4) ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ Sequel in the Works at Fox 5) Alexandra Shipp in Final Talks to Join Samuel L. Jackson in Shaft 6) Mail Bag 7) Live Twitter Questions In a report from Forbes, as Justice League enters its second weekend in release in theatres, the outlet is reporting that due to its less than stellar opening weekend, the fifth movie in the DCEU stands to lose anywhere from $50 to $100 million dollars. The number comes based on “educated projections” that include the film’s $300 million production budget as well as over $150 million in marketing costs. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, along with the co-head of the DC Films Jon Berg, spoke briefly about the studio’s plans for Flashpoint starring Ezra Miller and whether it will include Batman or not. Without revealing too many details, Johns did confirm an appearance by The Dark Knight, at least a version of the character. BUY OR SELL In a shocking report from THR, Disney Animation head John Lasseter is taking a leave of absence from Pixar after acknowledging in a memo "painful" conversations and unspecified "missteps.” The memo by Lasseter came ahead of THR’s own story about the alleged incidents that includes a story Rashida Jones, co-writer of Toy Story 4, leaving the project early on after Lasseter reportedly made unwanted advances. THR reports that a sequel to Murder on the Orient Express entitled Death on the Nile, has entered development over at Fox; with Orient Express’ Michael Green returning to pen the script. The movie will again be based on the Agatha Christie novel of the same name in which Hercule Poirot, played by Kenneth Branagh in Orient Express, is on a vacation in Egypt and becomes involved in “a love triangle gone murderously bad.” Deadline is reporting that X-Men Apocalypse’s Alexandra Shipp is in final negotiations to join Samuel L. Jackson, Richard Roundtree and Jesse T. Usher in the new Shaft reboot from director Tim Story. The new movie sees Jesse T. Usher’s Shaft Jr. character working for the FBI and estranged from his father.
