WHAT YOU WILL LEARN Renowned author Michel Baudin will review key topics for today's manufacturing, based on his books. Questions related to production planning/scheduling, assembly line design and operation, logistics/supply chain management, and processes that involve human-machine interactions will be covered. He will also tell us about his upcoming textbook entitled "Introduction to Manufacturing: An Industrial Engineering and Operations Management Perspective" (with Prof. Netland.) Book topics examples include, but are not limited to: Manufacturing Systems Analysis: Comparing various approaches like ERP, TOC and the Kanban system by applying the same analytical tools. Lean Assembly: Addressing the generic issues of assembly, from oil tankers to toys, in a language that assembly managers and engineers could relate to. Lean Logistics: Designating all the routine operations of manufacturing except the actual production of goods, including physical distribution, the information systems, and the management practices, particularly when working with suppliers. Working with Machines: Focusing on processes that involve human-machine interactions, in fabrication, machining, or automatic assembly.
