Two Bob Dylan songs that defined a generation and sparked a revolution. "Blowin' in the Wind" became the anthem of the Civil Rights Movement, while "The Times They Are A-Changin'" remains the ultimate protest song six decades later. Dylan was just 20 when he wrote "Blowin' in the Wind" and 22 for "Times" - songs that earned him the Nobel Prize for Literature, the first songwriter ever to receive that honor. THE STORY: When Bob Dylan arrived in New York's Greenwich Village in 1961, he was a 20-year-old named Robert Zimmerman with a borrowed name and borrowed songs. Within two years, he'd written "Blowin' in the Wind" and "The Times They Are A-Changin'" - songs that would define an era. "Blowin' in the Wind" appeared on The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan in 1963. Peter, Paul and Mary's cover became a Top 10 hit, but Dylan's original captures something raw and searching. The song asks questions about war, freedom, and human nature that remain unanswered. "The Times They Are A-Changin'" was released in 1964 as a deliberate anthem. Dylan drew on Irish ballads and the King James Bible, calling out writers, critics, congressmen, and parents. It became the rallying cry for everyone who believed the old world was crumbling.
