Andreas Kassler is professor of computer science at Karlstad university and the scientific leader of the DAMI4.0 research center. He explains that DAMI4.0 center brings together the local and international industry to join in digitalisation efforts to create smarter processes, products, and additional digitalisation needs of companies by the combination of engineering best practices and computer science based enabling technologies. ··· This interview was elaborated in the scope of the EU funded DigiTeRRI Project consortium meeting activities in the Swedish region of Värmland. ··· The DigiTeRRI project elaborates a framework and develops a roadmap for a responsible transition of traditional industry regions into digitalised industrial self-sustaining R&I ecosystems by using a Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) approach. The co-creation of the framework, the road-mapping process, and the implementation of actions take place with partners and stakeholders from three territories in Europe, Värmland in Sweden, Region Grand Est in France, and Styria in Austria. The project addresses the complexity of the challenges in the interplay between science, industry, government, and society (quadruple helix) in the defined territories. Quadruple-helix stakeholders of the three partner territories are actively engaged in this project.
