I offered the opportunity for ALL candidates and current members of Parliament standing for re-election the opportunity to contact me if they wished to record a message to share with the community ahead of the South Australian election. That invitation remains open to everyone, regardless of party or political affiliation. I am not a member of any party and have always enjoyed talking with any candidate or member of Parliament. Peter Rentoulis has lived in the electorate of Taylor his entire life, growing up and working on the family farm before going on to study law at university. He now lives in Angle Vale with his wife and young daughter and has operated his own local legal practice there for the past eight years, specialising in wills, estates and family law. An elected councillor with the City of Playford for almost twelve years, Peter has long been immersed in the local community. Living and working in the electorate allows him to engage directly with residents and understand the pressures families are facing. He says the rising cost of living, increasing housing prices, growing homelessness and greater reliance on local charities are among the biggest challenges in the northern suburbs. Peter volunteers every Friday night at Salisbury Haven on Church Street in Salisbury, where churches come together to provide meals and support to people doing it tough - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?... He points to significant increases in house prices and rents in recent years, along with extremely low rental vacancy rates, as clear signs that housing affordability is worsening. He believes South Australia must address housing supply, infrastructure and essential services to ensure future generations can still achieve the goal of home ownership. He will also advocate for better managed immigration to allow housing supply, services and infrastructure to catch up and meet the needs of all Australians. A strong advocate for local government reform, Peter says rising council rates have added further strain to households and small businesses during an already difficult economic period. He is also campaigning for improved roads and infrastructure in the Taylor electorate, arguing the area has been overlooked for too long. Labor has held the seat of Taylor for 33 years. Peter is contesting the electorate to win the seat and deliver stronger representation for the northern suburbs. He believes that even making Taylor a marginal seat would apply real political pressure on the government to invest more in local roads, infrastructure and essential services. For too long the electorate has been taken for granted, and Peter is determined to ensure the community receives the attention, respect and resources it deserves.
